Estes Park, Colorado Wedding - Danny and Valerie
Danny and Valerie - let’s just say that I balled my eyes out multiple times reading their story and so, dear reader, I am going to share it with you, in the hopes that you too are moved as much as I am.
Chapter One: How They Met
This is a story about how going out to dinner with friends turned into a love story. In college, Vallerie and her friend Katrina were invited to go out to dinner with Katrina’s friend Lynette and her brother Danny one fateful Wednesday night. That one night in 2018 lead to them going out together every Wednesday night for the next 2 years, which they affectionately dubbed as “Tradition”. To this day, the girls claim that they were not trying to set Valerie and Danny up and while Valerie went along talking to this one guy she kinda liked, Danny was smitten’. That summer, she knew that things were not going to pan out with the guy she was talking to and committed herself to focus on her relationship with Jesus and her school work. Meanwhile, back in Pennsylvania, Danny was showing off Valerie’s Instagram to all his friends and family, telling them that she was the girl he wanted to pursue.
Chapter Two: Falling Head Over Heels
When she came back to college in Pensacola, Florida for her junior year, things started to slowly shift as Valerie and Danny became closer and closer. Their “Tradition” consisted of them talking to each other and Katrina and Lynette watching their love story unfold. Not wanting to ruin their friendship, Valerie tried to convince herself that Danny probably didn’t like her in that way and kept turning to her studies to distract herself.
After some time, Danny finally asked her out for lunch, and soon called her father for permission to date his daughter.
Over time, they fell more and more in love. They became each other’s best friends and trusted each other like no other.
Chapter Three: How He Asked
On September 27, 2020, Danny picked up Valerie for church, and then afterward they went to the beach, swam in the ocean, talked, and laughed for hours. Danny then took her out to dinner at one of Pensacola Beach's most famous restaurants--Peg Leg Pete's. After dinner, Danny and Valerie took a drive on the island before making their final stop at Shoreline Park where they to sit by the bay to watch the sky. As you can already guess, Danny was going to pop the question, but with every attempt to get Valerie to stand up, she said “no thank you, I’m good here watching the sky” up until it was time to leave. "I really need to get back soon since I have work tomorrow," Valerie said. Now was Danny’s chance. When she stood up and turned around, there he was, on one knee! When he opened the box, the light that was supposed to be shining on the ring was shining directly in Valerie’s eyes because the box was upsidedown! They both had a laugh and Danny asked her to marry him.
Chapter Four: Their Micro Wedding in the Mountains:
Their intimate wedding was held in Estes Park Colorado, on a Wednesday, in which I believe is in honor of the “Tradition” that brought them together. Valerie’s bouquet and Danny’s Bouteneer are from Pine and Petal Weddings and their cake was from Nothing Bundt Cakes. But I’ll let you see for yourself what their wedding was like, truly a dream.
Chapter 5: Marriage
Dearest Valerie and Danny, I cannot wait to see how this new chapter is written. Your story and testimony is a blessing to the world and I’m just waiting to see what all God does in you and through you.
Lots of Love,
Annie Shannon<3
