PNW Bridal Session - Why You Should Invite your Grandparents to your Bridal Session
Getting married is the sweetest season ever, and grandparents are always the biggest cheerleaders. In a world of uncertainty, however, sometimes grandpa can’t make it to the actual celebration on account of unforeseen circumstances or sometimes not being able to travel. So why not have them come to your bridal session!
This was the case with my papa and my sister Claire. Thick as thieves, these two, ever since we were little. Grandpa, age 94.5, lives in Washington and has decided not to fly again, and although Claire isn’t currently dating, I knew he dreamed of seeing her all dressed up in a wedding gown someday.
Thus we made it happen. We bought this dress off of Amazon, flew up to visit him, did her hair and makeup, and had an accessible bridal session and first look in his backyard.
The man popped on his best fisherman’s cap and waited outside for his youngest grandchild to make her appearance.
She came out beaming, grinning ear to ear, so excited to share this special moment with him.
He slowly turned around and chuckled that same chuckle he has had for years with the biggest smile on his face. His dream come true.
Once the first look was over, I took Claire all over the backyard and photographed her in this bridal gown for her modeling portfolio, and while we did that, he stood inside watching us two girls through the glass door, waiting for her to come inside so he could share another one of his stories with her.
If you take anything away from this post, I encourage you to find ways to spend time with your grandparents on your wedding day or even arrange it for them to have a first look at your bridal session. The memories will mean the world to not only them and you, but the photos will have the ability to impact others like this Youtube Short did someone who knew my grandfather when he was young.
