Pride and Prejudice Wedding Inspiration
Dallas Wedding Photographer Annie Shannon
Your wedding should be a reflection of you and what you love. And that is exactly what Key Lee and Jack Austin did for their Denton, Texas Wedding. Key Lee and Jack Austin are true poets and lovers of Jane Austin so it was only natural that they wanted their wedding to reflect their love of Jane Austin’s Pride and Prejudice.
How to get wedding photos and videos that look like Pride and Prejudice:
Tell your photographer and videographer team what romance novels and movies inspire you so we can get creative energy from them.
Hannah, the owner of the wedding videography company Modern Memoir was the first to come up with the idea:
She was going to take scenes from the 1995 film and make them Key Lee and Jack Austin’s because they told her they loved Jane Austin in a conversation they had.
When she told me about it, I was all over it and watched the movie the night before, so the photos would reflect that as well.
Use the characters of Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth as inspiration for your Wedding dress and tux.
Bride
Elizabeth’s bangs loosely inspired Key Lee’s hair and I kept thinking the whole wedding, “Key Lee is Elizabeth!!!” Her dress was also a modern take on what Elizabeth would have worn today. And to tie it all together, she chose to wear her grandmother’s ring that brought that vintage carm.
Groom
Jack Austin didn’t change up hair too much except for keeping it a little longer so it would have a bit of curl like Mr. Darcy’s. He kept his beard and looked like how I imagined Mr. Darcy in the books. He topped off his look with a bowtie and tail coat, making him look regal and timeless.
Pick a location with garden touches and a view.
Just because you aren’t getting married in England doesn't mean you can’t have the vibes!
Key Lee and Jack Austin selected an outdoor venue with tall bushes, strong trees, a bridge, and a hill that had tall grass. All elements that made this wedding feel on brand when you add your outfits.
Don’t forget the details.
From the time of year they chose to get married to the florals, smoke on a cloud, and the poetic letters and wedding vows they wrote for one another, this wedding was not without thought and attention to detail. All the little elements made this wedding feel like Key Lee and Jack Austin and had a Pride and Prejudice feel at the same time.
Final thoughts.
You don’t have to take every element from your favorite movie or book to make it feel like it's part of your wedding story and images; you can take a few and then make them yours while infusing your personality and style choices.
You can always consult your DFW wedding photographer about what they recommend would help your wedding look and feel how you want it to. And if you’re still looking for one - in DFW or beyond, I would love to chat about your big day and how we can make your wedding vision come to life!
