The Mason Dallas Photos and Venue Review

It's hard not to love a summer wedding — especially when you get to go to the indoor summer wedding of your dreams at The Mason Dallas which has a luxurious floor plan, and art deco furniture that makes you think you’re on Downton Abbey. I got to document this one with Jordan Mitchell, and I’m obsessed.

So… Is The Mason Dallas ADA Accessible? Is it the best place for your wedding - summer or not? Let’s go into the details together.

Ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception spaces at the Mason Dallas

Ceremony - The Grand Hall

The Mason Dallas ceremony space is located upstairs in a beautiful white room with art deco mirrors, a grand piano, beautiful window light, and a fireplace that belongs in a castle.

This space is the most customizable as you can do so many things with florals and decor to bring color into the room, but it is also simple and elegant for the minimalist couple.

Although many have the chairs facing the fireplace, the chairs can be set to face the windows for a longer aisle and a different feel to the space.

Cocktail Hour - The Drawing Room

The Mason Dallas cocktail hour space is one of a kind with a bar, art deco furniture and decor, beautiful natural lighting, and hidden peacock accents.

This space has many sitting areas for guests to chat and enjoy their time while they wait for you to take family portraits. The best part is, is that it is adjacent to the ceremony space, so they are easily moved from one space to the other.

Reception - Reception Hall & The Grand Hall

What is nice about the Mason Dallas is that the Reception Hall is downstairs, away from the Great Hall and Cocktail Hour space so you can have an element of surprise for your guests.

What I like about the reception hall is that it feels like you are having a family dinner at a family home, they even have a wall of old family wedding photos that tie the vibe together.

The reason I mention the Grand Hall is that you have a few options to consider when it comes to how you want your reception to look:

You can have everything set up on the Reception Hall- Dinner and dancing.

Or you can have dinner in the Reception Hall and Dancing in the Grand Hall which will allow for your guests to utilize the Drawing Room/ Cocktail Hour space as a bar/ conversation area.

Both the Reception Hall and Grand Hall have ample space for dancing to your live band. Although DJs are allowed, live bands are recommended and preferred for this venue as they get everyone on the dance floor.

If you are concerned about having walkway space for wheelchairs and walkers, the latter is more preferable if you have a larger guest count.

What are the best photo spots at the Mason Dallas?

The best photo spots, in my opinion as a Dallas Wedding Photographer, are the drawing room, the great hall by the windows, and the Parlor, but in true Mason Dallas Fashion, the whole venue has endless photo locations that you’ll drool over.

The Drawing Room

What I love about this space is that you can get very Vogue, high fashion photographs or candid moments captured as you dream about the future together.

Con: You will need to do a first look and take pictures here prior to the ceremony, as this is the cocktail hour space as well.

The Great Hall

The Great Hall has many locations where you can take portraits. My favorite is by the windows, but I would LOVE to capture a couple who knows how to play piano at the grand.

The Parlor

This space is more commonly known as the groom’s suite in the wedding room, but it certainly lives up to its name. This space is PERFECT for moodier, quieter moments between the two of you.

Honorary Mentions - the staircase, hallways, and the entry sitting room

The Mason Dallas is full of what they call “tiny noticeable touches” that make this venue have endless possibilities for portraits. You may find that I often capture candid moments in these spaces as you and your love go from one activity to the next as well.

But are indoor and outdoor photos able to be captured at the Mason Dallas?

Yes!! If weather permits, The Mason Dallas has a beautiful front that I absolutely adore where you can take portraits. You can also take some pictures walking or dancing in the street as it is not a major road.

For the history buffs

The Mason Dallas was originally a Lodge built in 1920 - yes, this venue has been art deco from the get go. It was converted into a Dallas mansion wedding venue 100 years later.

Final thoughts

If you are looking for a fantastic wedding venue in Dallas, The Mason Dallas is at the top of this Dallas wedding photographer’s list because it has great curb appeal and is one of the most photogenic in the area. It is particularly perfect for any couple who would like to have an intimate black-tie wedding. 🦚🦚🦚🦚🦚 from me!

And if you are also looking for a photographer for your wedding and like the photos in this blog, I would love to be considered! Heck, if you choose to change plans and elope in Spain, or else where, I’m there!

Congratulations on your engagement!
